Google self-driving car revealed in production form

  • Google has taken the wraps off its self-driving car, which is now in full production form. Earlier this year, when prototypes were being developed, Google said it “won't have a steering wheel, accelerator pedal, or brake pedal.” The company claimed it did not need any conventional controls, and that the software and sensors did all the work.
  • This production model though, now comes with legally-essential things like a steering wheel, pedals, wing mirrors, and functional headlamps, tail-lamps and indicators. It also gets the terrain sensor perched on its roof.
  • Despite a number of carmakers working on autonomous or semi-autonomous technology, there haven’t been any fully-autonomous production models yet. And although Google’s self-driving car looks like a “Skynet Marshmallow Bumper Bot”, it will have the distinction of being the first fully-autonomous road car.
