Swede sets record for fastest wheelie on ice

  • Twenty-three year old Swede Robert Gull set a new Guinness World Record with an overall speed of 183.8kmph over 100 metres on ice at Lake Kakel in northern Sweden.
  • Gull was riding a bike from Northbike, a standard Honda CBR 1000RR, fitted with a race fairing and studded Dunlop tyres for the ice equipped with power studs from Best-Grip.
  • Gull, who has raced in the Red Bull Rookies Cup and CEV Moto2, reportedly took on the challenge because finding sponsors to fund racing in his native country are hard to come by so he thought he would try something new.
  • Gull set the record just a year after recovering from a superbike crash which put him temporarily in a wheelchair. He beat the previous record of 176.2kmph set by stunt rider Ryan Suchanek. The record was set in March this year, but it has just been confirmed and approved by the Guinness Book of Records.
