Volkswagen Golf R Touch revealed at CES 2015

  • Volkswagen has showcased a new futuristic dashboard at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2015 in Las Vegas. The dashboard was revealed as part of its new five-door Golf R Touch. The new concept previews technology that Volkswagen is developing for its future cars. It looks to get rid of traditional controls and bring it more in line with modern day smartphones and tablets.
  • It has three display units within a modified version of the standard 292bhp Golf R’s dashboard, and showcases a combination of both gesture and touch controls. One of them is a 12.8-inch high-res touchscreen on the upper part of the centre console, which is used to control the multimedia system. Below that is the 8-inch display with haptic feedback that houses controls for the vehicle settings, air conditioning and other miscellaneous functions. The third display unit is the 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, dubbed Active Info Display, like in the new Passat.
  • Thanks to gesture controls, it offers unique features like the ability to adjust seats, and open or close the sunroof, merely by flowing hand gestures. It also allows a lot of customisations to the display and the lighting schemes.
