New Skoda Rapid launched at Rs 7.22 lakh
- Skoda has launched the new Rapid starting at Rs 7.22 lakh for the entry-level petrol and Rs 8.38 lakh for the entry level diesel manual (ex-showroom, Delhi). This new model boasts some key mechanical changes and a couple of cosmetic variations.

- The highlight of the new Skoda Rapid is the new 103bhp 1.5-litre diesel unit, while the 103bhp 1.6-litre petrol engine is retained. The standard five-speed manual gearbox is retained, as is the six-speed tiptronic automatic gearbox coupled with the petrol motor. The diesel unit gets an optional seven-speed DSG automatic gearbox.
- Cosmetically, the new Skoda Rapid gets new alloy wheels and an optional black package for the top-end Elegance trim. The package includes black alloys, black fog lamps, black grille and logo, black wing mirrors and black housings for the projector headlamps. A glossy black roof and black decals are available as accessories. Other feature additions include cruise control, rear parking sensors and a card holder.
- By adding a diesel automatic to its Rapid arsenal, Skoda has attempted to further bolster the fortunes of its best-selling model. With the festive season almost here, it is likely that the Rapid will make a strong case with customers looking to buy a mid-size diesel automatic sedan. Currently, the other two cars in the segment that offer a diesel automatic are the Hyundai Verna and the new Volkswagen Vento.
